Hello Kitty Makeup Brushes from Sephora

I’m a huge Hello Kitty fan (if I had the money, I’d be the wife from Hello Kitty Hell) and when I saw this, I thought I just had to have them! Never mind the fact that I don’t really use makeup brushes that much ^^;

It’s so cute! And in my favourite shade of pink, too!

$49 from Sephora.

(Thanks to my sister for showing me the link!)

The Entrance – but where’s the exit?

It's a long way to the top...

Corny jokes aside… Today I went out with my church friends, to celebrate my friend Nell’s 21st!

She wanted a beach and barbecue outing, but the weather turned its back on us. T_T I mean, how else can you possibly explain a week of glorious sunshine and heat, then suddenly rain and a thunderstorm on the actual day of the outing? It was such a depressing day; we were just really unlucky…

Koneko ga neko is back!

My blog is back! *happy dance*

But why, you may ask, did it disappear in the first place?

You see, it used to be powered by a ASP.NET blogging platform called Graffiti CMS. However, that project seems to be dying a slow death, and it was getting more and more difficult to tweak and maintain. So, I jumped ship and decided to move to a different platform.

Being the Microsoft loyalist I am, and because I wanted to be able to use my ASP.NET skillz, I looked for alternatives still within the .NET space. I didn’t like any of them. And I ended up delaying the migration for months because I couldn’t import my old posts into any of the new ones I tried out.

So… long story short, WordPress it is!

Seriously, I have come to the conclusion that it’s the best blogging platform currently out there. The interface is extremely user-friendly, and the platform and community are both mature. I really don’t have to worry about anything in my blog, except for the content.

And yes… I should have done the change ages ago – I got lazy ^^;

Saving Money

Nothing in my pockets but knives and lint.

A few weeks ago I encountered that dreaded feeling of having nothing in the bank account.

Actually, it was worse. My account was negative. I had my bills account to salvage it and stop me from paying interest, but I was surprised (and disappointed) that I fell into this trap again. Sure, I had a pay increase from my new job but I’ve found that my spending has increased as well.

And now that my cousin is staying with us, that’s two dependents (along with my brother) to take care of.

So I opened my budget spreadsheet and took a look at my financial state.

Update

Sorry for the lack of updates! It’s a busy month, and still going to get busier…

SMASH has come and gone, and I wasn’t really able to enjoy it as much as I wanted :( Though I did get to see Eminence Orchestra perform, and that makes me happy ^^

Manga-wise, I also picked up a few new series that I recommend:

  • Reimei no Arcana
  • Hadashi de Bara o Fume
  • Akuma to Love Song

I’m currently reading Bride of the Water God, my first manwha since Ragnarok. I also read a bit of Kyou Koi o Hajimemasu, which I detest so I’ll stop there >_<

Red-Haired Snow White Princess, or Blonde Bishounen and Their Strong Heroines

I’ve noticed a trend in my shoujo manga favourites.

Usually I look for a strong female character. If the main girl is annoying, clueless, or always has to be saved by the hero or someone else, I’ll chuck it.

If the above condition is met, I look at the main guy.

This one’s easy. Is he hot? XD (yes, I’m shallow…)

Recently, my heroes have always been blonde, or light-haired. More often than not, they’re also the noble/prince type.

A rundown of my favourite shoujo couples who fit the bill:

  • Suou Tamaki & Fujioka Haruhi (Ouran Koukou Host Club)
  • Usui Takumi & Ayuzawa Misaki (Kaichou wa Maid-sama!)
  • Edgar J.C. Ashenbert & Lydia Carlton (Hakushaku to Yousei)
  • Oz Vessalius & Alice (Pandora Hearts)
  • Masamune Asuka & Miyakozuka Ryou (Otomen)
  • Kurosaki Tasuku & Kurebayashi Teru (Dengeki Daisy) (note: okay, Kurosaki is not princely at all… But he’s blonde ^^)

Add to that my latest discovery, Zen Wisteria and his lovely red-haired Shirayuki from Akagami no Shirayukihime. *heart*

akagami

KYAAAA~!!! I’m so glad to have found a series like this. I believe this is the mangaka’s first, but she’s already written a beautiful and believable romance that leaves me squealing for more. And the secondary characters are equally lovable! Plus, the story is fantasy, so that’s a breath of fresh air compared to the myriad of shoujo manga set in school.

Read it on mangareader! ^_^

Anime Festival Asia 2011

I wish it was easier for me to make impulse decisions and buy plane tickets. Then I would be going to Anime Festival Asia in Singapore this year.

afateaser2011

Still, lack of money right now + not wanting to be in too much debt + travelling alone is not helping those prospects ^^;

Next year, maybe?

Cosplay, SMASH 2011, and Pandora Hearts

I’m thinking of going as Oz Vessalius to SMASH! next month!

oz-chara

I only started reading Pandora Hearts yesterday, but I’m already hooked enough to actually think of cosplaying the main character.

Ahhhh… cosplay is going to be an expensive hobby to renew, but I want to make my debut worth it!

  • Costume – eBay – Around $100 – $120
  • Boots – Local – $60 – $100
  • Wig – eBay or style Local – $50 – $60
  • Contacts – Online – $50

Other props include the pocket watch or a B-Rabbit bunny, but they’re lower priority.

Hope I can pull it off!! >.<
